Check out Best Mobile Phone Deals

Getting cheap mobile phone contract deals is money-saving especially if you are going for a high-end flagship model from brands like Apple and Samsung. But if you still want to get one, buying it smartly could save you a lot of cash compared with the cost of a standard contract.

That means you should never go straight to a network provider as you will most probably find expensive deals. Sometimes it is cheapest to buy a new phone and then pair it with a cheap sim-only deal. But currently, contract mobile phones through resellers and small providers are on the top and offer some great phones and allowance combos.

When you are in a search of a cheap mobile phone contract, here is what you should look out for:

  1. Buy a phone and pair it with cheap Sim-only deal

It is as simple as it gets – look for a handset that you like at the cheapest price you find and buy it. Then look for a cheap Sim-only deal and pair it with your phone.

This is usually much cheaper over the two years than getting into a contract directly with a provider, plus you get to choose the network of your preference and Sim-only plan that suits you best. You can also avoid credit checks if you choose a pay-as-you-go deal.

Moreover, refurbished models or “Like New” mobiles can be a lot cheaper. Although they don’t come with the original box and the accessories, they are thoroughly tested and will often come with a warranty.

  1. Buy a phone without any interest

Buying a sim-free phone can be a good option if you don’t want to get into a long term contract but buying a flagship model of any brand upfront is not affordable for everyone. Buying it on a contract can be a cheaper option for some but still, you have to pay some extra amount than the original price of the phone in the name of interest. But there are options where you can pay for your phone monthly without any interest.

iPhone Payments is the financing scheme that offers interest-free iPhones. This option is available for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max when you buy them from one of Apple’s stores.

  1. Never go directly to the networks

Many of the customers make a mistake of getting a new phone via a two-year contract that is provided by a specific network along with the bundle and they pay for it with a monthly fee –  usually, it is the expensive way unless a provider offers some out of the world contracts.

What you should be looking for is the reseller sites such as Mobiles.co.uk and MobilePhonesDirect. They will offer you a better deal than going directly to the network. You can also use CompareMyMobile to compare different resellers’ deals. But keep in mind that resellers will also provide a contract with some network so you will get the same service, just the contract will be cheaper.

Already have a handset?

If you have a sim-free phone or a contract phone whose contract has ended, you don’t need to spend too much. You can get a large number of minutes, texts and data £10 per month simply by inserting a Sim with a Sim-only deal.

Do not settle for the same plan for years because the prices and packages change every day and you don’t want to keep paying for an expensive deal when there is a better deal available.  So you should be paying less with each passing year. Not the same and not more. Here is how:

  1. Choose Sim only deals

There are two types of Sim-only deals, one with a 30-day rolling contract which you can cancel anytime (with a one-month prior notice), or a fixed-term contract usually of 12 months. Long term contracts often provide better value but not always.

Sim-only deals are great if you already have an unlocked handset or can afford to buy one outright and pair up with a good sim-only deal.

  1. Choose a pay-as-you-go deal

If you don’t like being tied to a contract, then you can also go for a pay-as-you-go phone. It’s pretty simple, you pay for what you use in advance via top-ups. And pay-as-you-pack renew automatically every month unless you cancel it.

Buying a pay-as-you-go phone doesn’t require any credit check but it could come in pretty expensive if you are after any flagship model.
